Keeping them Comfy

Scooby Doo - for a special little girl!

Every child loves certain clothes, toys and yes, even blankets.
A very special girl I know is quite fond of Scooby Doo, so, when I saw this soft arctic fleece, I couldn't resist the urge to make her a throw for her bed.  She loves it!
Bundle comes with;
one crib blanket,
one travel blanket
and one  change pad
or
one crib blanket
and two travel blankets

But, even the wee ones love their creature comforts and one of the first loves of an infant is usually a special blanket.  It helps them comfort themselves, creates consistency and provides mom with peace of mind - until you lose the blanket, or it's in the wash - then what?  The trio at right is one of two trios offered through our 'Bibs and Bonnets' line of products.  It consists of a crib blanket, travel blanket and change pad; or, a crib blanket and two mini blankets.  The latter was designed to accommodate the working mom who had to have their infant in day care and wanted to provide some of home for them in their day care surroundings.  The travel blanket, which is just a mini version of the crib blanket, was the ticket!  The crib blanket stays at home, one travel blanket travels with the parents and the other stays with the day care, so the infant has that bit of home with them when they get put down for their naps!

May Flowers

When spring is in full swing, your little darlings will need a sun hat.
This one is made of 100% cotton, fully lined and designed to meet this summer head-on!

Graduated shades of pink and rose with the most delicate little flowers.  A fabric rose is added for that touch of whimsy.

As I've mentioned before, sometime I follow my own vision, at other times, I follow yours.  This was inspired by a request for a sun hat crafted from retro-roses.  In the search for that fabric, I found this one that had full transitions from pink to green throughout the rose coloured spectrum.

This style also takes your toddler out of the standard toddler-style bonnets that are usually available.  One of the toddlers in my life is always taking one of my sunhats out and popping it on her head.  So, I had decided to make one in that style for her, then the above mentioned request came a long and everything started moving forward.  I'll add more photos of this style as they become available, perhaps even on the head of a toddler!

Stay tuned!  Let me know your favourite style, who knows, there could be a new design in the offing!

Why I Have to Create!

Did you ever wonder why you love to do what you do?  Or, where your love of doing one thing over another came from originally?
I can't work in a traditional sense.  I've tried and failed, repeatedly.  But, what to do?  I come from a family of people who are masters at culinary arts.  My maternal Grandmother was trained as a Pastry Chef, yet worked as a cook with air force.   I have failed at that too - not working for the air force - cooking!  So, what is a cooking challenged black sheep to do?  In my case, two early loves proved to be the direction of my creative life, designing and writing.

My imagination doesn't allow me to hyper-focus on things that aren't within my field of interest.  This was made all too painfully clear to me as my children were growing up.  They would put their clothes into the mending basket for repair and those articles would sit, often, long after the child had out-grown them.  And so, after years of this experience, when they would have occasion to put something into the mending basket, they would say good-bye to it! Your children will be the first to point out your short-comings.  Even today, I'm not much better at that aspect of sewing.
